Yea unfortunately, I think something like that is hard. Maybe not worth all the hassle to some.

It is actually really simple, we have all the tools we need.

Anything over 1080p will be troublesome (even 1080p could make trouble, given there is no GPU accel yet).

A proper multithreaded application should probably handle this fine tho, right now.

I think its just most of us dev's have different priorities right now

I don't see why it wouldn't be, there are many tegra devices that can play video. But it's early days, I'd imagine we have a ton of homebrew on the way.

this will damage the switch in the case that it would relay on cpu rend and would heat up some ... so if you want an Media Player get Linux

Bullshit

Edit: Just as a side-note, my retroarch port running 720p, on 1 single cpu core uses like 30%.
Not to mention this is bullshit in general and a non-factor unless you start reaching temps 100+°C

I am not sure if trolling or serious.

6k Posts, "Developer" Title, "Just port over ffmpeg with hardware decoding", ya. No shit

Why don't you just port vulkan over?
If Vulkan was open-source, you could.

I think Custom Firmware might be able to patch out the sig-check, and allow files from PC to play.

Vulkan is a open source API interface, you will need to implement a compatible driver. Its absolutely possible.

Open source driver examples are in the linux kernel

Same goes for ffmpeg, if there isn't a compatible interface for hw decoding, it won't work.

have u ever raised your head when u're watching ur anime waifus in a public place? try to look people in the eyes and u will see, or you can just pretend to not see... you should really try it when u are at station :)
Not sure how it is in Italy, but here in Germany, it's nothing "weird".
Anime is becoming more and more accepted here. We've very large Conventions where you can find people from almost every age.
We have AnimagiC, AniNite, Connichi, ComicCon, animuc, Anime Messe Berlin, DoKomi, MMC Berlin (Mega Manga Convention), Yukon Convention

I watch Anime, even when I'm at the station or travelling by train.
Sometime I get to talk to very cool people because of this.

Yea, Anime is bad /sarcasm

For what it's worth the switch uses libstagefright for movie decoding. Pssoibly we could just hook unit that? If not ffmpeg software decoding will work fine until hardware acceleration is available.
