Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a strange issue on a Nintendo Switch I’m repairing, and I’m hoping someone here has encountered this before or can help me out. Here are the details:

  • The console was water-damaged, but only around the battery and the BQ chip.
  • I replaced the BQ24193 along with the surrounding components that seemed damaged.
  • The P13USB was also fried, so I replaced it as well.
Since the repairs, the console works but has a strange behavior:

  1. Occasionally, it goes into a black screen, especially when the battery is completely drained.
  2. If I disconnect the battery and plug in the charger directly, the console restarts normally and starts charging.
  3. However, if I leave the battery connected and just plug in the charger when this issue occurs, the console stays stuck on the black screen.
  4. The only way to restart the system in this case is to disconnect the battery and reconnect it.
  5. After I saw the problem, I changed the battery too, but that don't solve the problem.
I suspect there’s an issue with the power management or maybe a component I haven’t identified yet, but I’m not sure.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Or do you have any ideas on what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance for your advice and help! 😊
