My switch doesn’t recognize SD cards anymore. I updated to 7.0.1 from 7.0. I tried to install Atmosphere. Got the blue atmosphere splash screen then the switch told me to install the sd update to allow the card to work. Rebooted and now it won’t even detect sd cards. I can still send payloads to it via RCM. Hekate doesn’t detect the SD slot either. Whenever to try to run the fusee-primary from atmosphere to install it, I get “SDMMC” driver isn’t being initialized or such. I’ve looked at every thread and/or fix online and still nothing works. Any ideas?

you formatted your sd card when you did that, recopy atmosphere to your sd card
I’ve formatted it so many times trying to fix it. Would that actually prevent stock firmware from recognizing microSD cards? I’m sorry. I’m a complete noob at switch hacking. I’ve done my fair share of modifying other consoles and systems before but switch modding is a whole new thing to me

Just try to format it as fat32.

What format is your SD card?

Tried it. Doesn’t change the error message.

Currently exFat. Tried fat32. Tried to clean it via diskpart. I still get the “Failed to initialize SDMMC driver” no matter what I do. I still have payload access but AFAIK it doesn’t do me any good without the SD working

Try with another SD card.

Use guiformat to format the SD card. Windows SUCKS at FAT32 formatting and doesn't do it properly.

Unfortunately did that too. Didn’t change anything. The sd slot worked perfectly before trying to install atmosphere.

Tried that too. I have like 6 different cards from different devices that I tired. Even bought a brand new 256 gb evo pro and still the same thing.

Yeah. That’s pretty much what I’ve been thinking. It is in warranty. If I send it into Nintendo to get it fixed, will I get it back with the same serial number?
Not a guarantee and since it isn't patched. But no idea what they do.

reinstall the firmware?

it's not an sdcard issue, probably not even the reader

that update sounds like the culprit

No. Like taking it apart you mean? I can try that. Any info I should know before doing it?

remove the middle screws on the joycon rails and then remove the tiny screws around the casing

that's all

the sdcard reader is out in the open

no warranty stickers, no flex cables, nothing to worry about

you will need a tri-wing screwdriver tho

Sounds like something I’ll will try when I get home from work today.

How did you update from 7.0 to 7.0.1, ofw? So you update and then got the exfat update while still on atmosphere then rebooted? Is that right?
