Hacking Question Switch 8.0.1 do i have to update

I have a switch on 8.0.1 and put kosmos on it the newest version.
Im going to run on sysmmc. The switch will never be used to play online since i got another switch
I have a cartridge of animal crossing that needs a higher firmware.
What do i have to do?
Do i update the system or is kosmos letting me bypass this ?

If you want to play the game that requires higher FW, you need to update, yes. Both, FW and CFW files.
