As long as it isn't an ipatched console then yes, you can do that, it is highly recommended. Also backup boot0/1 as well as nand

It's better to keep the both backups offline (airplane enabled) before backing them up to avoid synchronizing issue to the Nintendo server.

If not then you need to wait or look into manual downgrading, but if done wrong that will permanently break your switch
