So apparently you can play the Gamecube Switch 2 games online... but only with people on your friends list? Why they hell would they do that? Why can't I just join a public lobby in Fzero GX or Soul Caliber 2? Is this possible and i'm just missing something? Way to ruin any chance they had at smash Melee being a cool feature for the console if they ever port it.

It's not like there are online lobbies or anything like that. The way it works is you are basically just syncing up 4 consoles inputs. There isnt some magical "online play" button added ingame its just that they allow you to sync up the system controller ports with other peoples consoles online to simulate a seamless online functionality.
