So after watching the youtube video of spanwave detailing upgradable games like ZA where the S2 version works in a S1, I was wondering if a dumps of these S2 versions would include the S2 update or are they in some sort of code included in the box? If it is included in the cart, then we can assume that games like metroid 4 S2 version will be dumpable and usable for S2 mig owners.

Afaik this doesn't work, because the S2 code/data is on another partition or something.
The protocol to access this partition is the same iirc, but the key to communicate it with is not known.
The MIG switch/dumper needs that key to make the Switch 2 talk to it.

But I'm not 100% sure on that - I don't know if such a cart every showed up.

From what I saw on the video it feels like except for the cart being red they are basically switch 1 carts. I guess testing is in order to know for sure. I will test this with metroid 4 when it realeases.

I tried to dump my copy of Pokémon Legends Z-A (S2 version) but couldn't dump the "Initial Data" part. Said something about Initial Data being inaccessible on T2 cartridges. So... yeah.

Is that still the case? What did you use to dump the carts?
I tried both mig dump tool and nxdumptool. No new developments to the mig dumper or nxdumptool have been made since I made that comment (at least to my knowledge) so... I would assume that's still the case.
