1st world problems ...

That aside, I'd sell my trash for a penny a pound, if they came and got it themselves. Empty out the dumpsters, ship that shit overseas. Dumpsites will be as if they were brand new, and well... I hear the cities are full of trash.

Edit: Ninja'd :P

haha, exactly.

though i guess, if they'd import garbage to use as a fuel it'd be a cheap fuel to import.

Thats true, but there are still a large ammount of landfills that people arent doing anything about. If anything, itd just be another option to thin them out besides inceneration or compression (i think they call it compression, where they squish it aall into a little block right? Or is that cars?)

It's true, recycling is pretty much everywhere. Though I hope the younger generation gets better at it, people throw aluminum cans where they're not supposed to.
You even get fined for throwing trash on the street here, I think it was around $150 or something for an empty beer can, throwing cigarettes and chewing gum paper is illegal too.

For cigs too? Thats really a good thing, cuz here in the states, i can see cig butts laying all over the place. The sad thing is seeing them cluttered up in parks and places where kids play. Its so gross to see like 5000 cig butts littered around a park bench.

Yeah, here too. A friend of mine had something to eat which was wrapped in tin foil a year ago and a tiny piece of it dropped without him noticing it. Police walked up to him and fined him for about 150$ >_>

^Wow that's tough :( Where I come from, you're supposed to get fined for littering. Problem is ..... lack of enforcement. Which is a bad thing. Cos nobody gives a crap about it.

I'm still stuck on the notion that they incinerate it...I'm thinking that can't be all that great for the planet.
though that makes sense to some extent, i'm much more in favour of recycling.

thanks, for confirming that. what do people over there think about that? does it bother them or are they used to it?

i guess those are the two extremes, it's good that they encourage people about it, but not that it gets out of control, like the police should be a little forgiving when somebody honestly didnt notice, like your friend, you know... humans.
and then there there are the ones that dont even care at all, and cops that dont even enforces the rules they're supposed to!

Oh yea. Definitely. Unless he looked as if he deliberately threw it, I guess if giving a small warning will go a long way. :)

Recycling?
Well it's not hard at all and by the looks of it everyone does it, there's not much else you can do. Though I must ad that some people are better at it than others, however everyone must recycle to some degree at least.

Here we have sort trash into these categories:
- Stuff that can turn into compost (foods) (You can't throw plastic bags into the compost containers, you have to cut the bag open)
- Plastics and other similar non-organic stuff.
- hard plastics
- metal
- glas
- colored glas
- corrugated cardboards
- batteries
- electronics
- for bottles and cans we have to return them to the store for recycling, what we get in return is 1kr per small can or bottle, which is about 1/6th of a dollar.
And that's it!

A convenience here is that all apartments come with separate trash cans for everything under our sinks, so it's effortless and not a hassle at all.
Believe me, it only takes around 5 minutes to take out the trash and your only option where to throw your trash is at these small recycling facilities which are located just about everywhere. Seriously, there's two of them right outside of where I live.

Inside everything is conveniently labeled too so it's safe to say that this stuff is forced on you, you can't just throw everything in bag.

wow, that's crazy and cool!
so i'm guessing there's no garbage truck stopping outside your house hehehe.
but when you go to take out the trash isnt that a lot of different things that you have to carry?
i'm getting the idea that all the different trash cans would take a lot of space in the house, but i'm probably wrong.
:P
