I just got a Xbox One Call of Duty Edition. Bit worn but dirt cheap. (35usd with three controllers)
But when I tried to insert a disc it meet resistance, so I opened up and got a reminder why my kids don't get to be in my gaming room unattended. (Pic below)
I will replace the cooling paste and give the inside a good clean next week, so I wont be able to test the drive before this. But I have a spare BD drive, if the drive is broken is there any way to swap? I understand that the drive and the motherboard are paired together, but can I swap the pcb or flash the drive in any way?

You can buy another DVD drive, but you must buy the exact same model, and use your existing pcb board from original DVD drive in the new drive. Example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B093D2P4P...6883e&s=pc&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw

Some extra context is that each BD drive is assigned with unique keys made for each console. Simply swapping the drive out from another console will not work because the keys do not match to your console, not unless you take out your existing PCB board from your drive and placing it your new one.

Thanks for the replies. Will the two drives I attached be able to swap pcb? The model and FWver is the same but the HWrev is different

I swaped the pcb's worked like a charm. No idea what HW changes have been made
