Hacking Supercard sd mini cheat problem

I've been trying to get the cheats working on several games (for example contra and dragon quest monsters: joker) but I horribly fail.

I download sccfile from sccheats.co.uk, doubleclicked gamefile in supercard software, clicked enable cheat, linked scc file to game. Program gives me three files (nds, sav, scc), copy them to sd card. Game runs normally but without cheats, if I press L+R+up+start my screens go blank and won't return to normal whatever I do.

I wrestled through some older posts where the solution seemed to upgrading the firmware in order. Downgraded to 1.70, then ugraded to 1.80->1.81->1.83->1.84. Doesn't make a difference.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

make sure when you patch the game you enabled cheats
and make sure you rename the cheat properly

Yeah, I did both of those. Apparently the problem was in my sd card somehow. I tried it with anotehr card (out of my digital camera) and that did work. So I reformatted my sd card and it seems to work now. Thanks though.
