With checkpoint a program that it's installed on you switch , checkpoint is going to make a copy of your save game , and then you will replace the files with the saves provided here

Noob question here. I got checkpoint and the all unlocked save. When I back up my current save and restore the all unlocked save. It just starts the game as if it's my first time playing. Am I supposed to use a different user or am I missing something simple? BTW, using SX OS.

No its Only all Unlocked whitout Game Progress.

I used Checkpoint to restore this save file but the characters and spirits doesn't unlock. It just as same as the beginning without any progress. BTW, I am using SX OS too.

I backed up the original save file and use all unlock file to cover it then I restored the save folder. It just doesn't work.
The game rom I downloaded was .NSP file. Could this be a reasom?

No it´s work for others. and for me. And i´m a Nsp User.

I have 6.1 using SX Pro I don't have a save or checkpoint folder my game is installed by putting it in root and installing it through homebrew, can you please tell me how I install this save?

Put Checkpoint.nro in the switch folder on your sd card.

Run it via Homebrew.

Backup your Smash Game.

Checkpoint folder should be insite the switch folder

Put one of my saves in your Smash folder, and override yours.

Shart Checkpoint Again, and Restore the Save.

Done

I know the reason now. I just covered all files to the root of the backup folder...I didn't realize there is a save_data folder in the backup...The system_data and mii, spirits folder are just exactly the same as the root of backup folder...

I am getting a 2002-0001 when trying to restore edited save for Smash Ultimate xci from checkpoint.


Okay, I already had the edited save working with no errors. I deleted it because I wanted another save file that didn't have any completion (new game) in Super Smash Ultimate xci. I am using SX OS 2.5.2 emuNAND 6.2.0 with exFat support. I am working on a mac. When I finally had both the new save game and the edited save folders in checkpoint and restored the edited save I consistently get a 2002-0001 when I am loading Smash Ultimate. I have tried many combinations: deleting both files and starting from scratch, deleting the new save game file, deleting the saves through data management. Deleted the .nsp v1.2 update for Smash Ultimate. Deleted the Checkpoint.nro and folder it belonged in. Installed the xci using sx os installer. re-installing the v.1.2 .nsp update. I cannot get the edited file to load anymore. The only thing I did not try was to delete the smash ultimate.xci file completely from the sd card and copy it back to the root of the sd. I don't know if that will do it but unsure why it is not loading the edited save file. Any info will help. Thank you!
