Hacking Super smash bros brawl layer

I hear something about brawl being double disc layered or coated or something what does this mean..
Can i use a regular dvd+r to burn it like i do all my other backups or do i have to have special cds.. same goes for galaxy?

In order to burn brawl you need a dual layer burner, and a blank dual layer disc.

Or you could get the DVD5 version which has SSE removed.
