This is practically Super Mario Maker 3 for PC with a lot of cool stuff already added. All you have to do is download it unzip it open the .exe and drop your SMB 1 rom into it and you can play it.

This is a fascinating project. I remember appreciating Super Mario Bros. X back in the day. A friend and I played a ton of it. We're talking level pack after level pack, and we even challenged ourselves with custom-made levels. Any time a similar project comes along, I see the same potential. Kudos to the devs for making it to a fully featured release.

this has been out for a while now, you couldn't disable any of the new additons they put in (Also, they left in assets from the other versions of SMB1 that were unique to them while doing what amounts to a greenscreening of the original assets for thier addtions), did they at least fix that now?

Reading this gave me flashbacks to the Newgrounds Mario games/animations of the 2000's. In many of the projects, the sprites would be misaligned (between frames) and/or filled with artifacting.

I miss those days.

While it's great, does anyone know the controls for the game? It loaded the ROM and game with no issue, but the only keybinds I could figure out were arrow keys to pick options and holding "X" for exiting the game.

Nothing I pressed on my keyboard worked to confirm menu options and actually start the game.

How much different is 4.6 to 4.0? It would be neat to see a switch port if possible :D

There is a godot exporter https://github.com/Stary2001/godot/releases

You know, I didn't watch it because I didn't know my DBZ, but my understanding is that the animator got better and better as time went on. Watching animators improve their craft in real time was a great meta experience.

Animating anything is a painstaking process, so I always give kudos to those that put the time and effort in.

Ooh, that stinks. I feel bad for the fanbase. I know that there were several series I was into back in the day, but several were discontinued by their creators.

I never faulted the creators, since they were doing these things for free and in their spare time (In the pre-Patreon days, no internet animator made money.), but I won't lie, some of those discontinuations were disappointing.

What can I say, I found myself invested in the indie animator scene of the early-2000's.

I remember liking Phantasmagoria-crow's Mario Brothers series, since it was moody and serious. While the first three entries came out the same year, the fourth and fifth entires needed much more time. I appreciated that the creator made sure fans got a proper finale.

I remember Andrew-Kauervane's My GOD, Robots because Matt Wilson provided the opening music. I think that only went for a few episodes. Ed Atlin's Space Tree series was probably his most noteworthy work. I even remember random stuff like Oh My God by Xenon because it had smooth animation and similar vibes to Bonus Stage.

I was a fan of Matt Wilson's High Score's Bonus Stage, and I got to see Matt Wilson's craft improve with every passing year. Pumping out weekly episodes for free must have been a huge investment. I followed that one until its cancellation at episode 87. I was bummed because I was expecting the series to culminate with episode 100 doubling as the final episode of High Score. Despite the circumstances, I still give Matt Wilson credit for putting in the time and inspiring many other internet animators of the era.

There were some other ones I'm trying to remember. There was some series about a skeleton man escorting something. It was an early work that had voice acting to go along with the detailed artwork. I cannot remember its name. There was Tomorrow's Nobodies, which the creator tried to get picked up as a television series. A fairly well-known animation in the space was Waterman. One episode featured Reel Big Fish, and the movie was set to star Leslie Nielsen. (The movie remains in development h*ll to this day.) Man, so many memories.

TL;DR: I do my best to recall some popular (and random) animations from the early 2000's Newgrounds scene.
