Gaming Street fighter tournament

We should set up an official street fighter tournament for apirl 2, organized by gbatemp to test our skills at the beginning

this would be a good opening event for us

maybe one for ridge racer too.

sign ups would need the 3ds friend code and nick name
this would spread friend codes and we would have fun

who thinks this is good and are there any ideas to make it better.

Sounds like a fun way to get things started on the 3ds if this thing gets underway i'm definitely in

so i will organize this with help from the mods or something
the week of the release, i will make a thread stating more info and ask the people who will partake to pm the friend code and nick names to me
we dont want people messing with the tournament with the friend codes etc.
it will start at some undesided time and i will send each person who will be partakeing in it a pm with their opponent and the friend code and the nick. some number of rounds will be played between each pair to decide the winner and the winner will continue on while the loser will be out. I will have a tourny table made for the event. So i need ideas for a good time in which all can participate and howmany games per round in tourny.
i need enough intrest though

we only need about 4-12 people to have some fun. If worse comes to worse we could all just play together if this falls through.

so maybe i was thinking it would start at 10 am pst
for est in the US that would be 1 pm

idk about other countries though
and maybe best out of 5 for winner between two
we would have to trust the players not to lie though

I would say just trust people. Unless there are spectating for matches.

We could watch each match that way.

Better yet, just have them take a pic of the match being won?

I might be able to do it around 1pm EST but for me maybe 4 pm EST would be better. I already know I'll have prior obligations on April 2nd that will take up time between 6am till ?, but I definitely know I could be home by 4 to partake in the tourney.

ok so 1 pm pst 4 pm est
as of right now, it stands unless there is conflict

if it is less then 15 people then we can have on match at a time and the rest spectate
pics would be unreliable since one could take a pic of winning another match against someone
and its maybe 5 matches which means up to 5 pics per person
i would have a 75 photos to look over with just 15 people
thats 320 in a 64 person tourny
we can include international i think if time is not an issue

as it stands 5 people have confermed wanting to play and 12 have said yes for it being a good idea but not whether they would take place in it

and also know that i am new to street fighter but am good at smash bros so i might do well if i practice that week
i played a demo on ps3 and i did well
i played 2 turbo snes on an emu and suck at it
we shall see who is the champ april 2nd

so out of 5 for determining winner?
and could i get people who are going to play in this but haven posted to post that they want to or pm me

I'd be happy to participate, however, I'm not sure I'll get my 3DS by April 2nd, 'cause our local post is really slow and 3DS isn't here on launch day so I have to pre-order it from Amazon UK.

Unfortunately I'll be getting my 3DS later but it is a good idea.

Maybe more tournaments can be organized as new competitive games show up
