Hacking Strange RCM error

RCM used to work fine, but I lost my jig and printed a new one. Now my switch boots into RCM (screen black, need to hold power button for 14 seconds to turn it off to boot again normally), but on my pc it's connected as Nintendo Switch instead of APX. Anyone know why this is happening?

Its not in RCM. Instead of plugging your Switch into your computer after entering RCM, enter RCM while it is plugged into the computer.

That's what I've been doing, and it has to be in RCM mode, because of the black screen and the sound my computer makes when it boots. Yet it still says Nintendo switch.

I alternate between hekate (lakka only) and injecting reinx straight. I ran sxos once, but just gave up when I saw the whole OS was behind a paywall.

Are you using TegraRCMGUI or TegraRCMSmash? Because if its the former, I would suggest try using the latter.

I fixed it. weird solution, once the screen goes black, hold the power button for 12 seconds, then hold power and vol up. That registered as APX and let me boot into reinx. Do I need to mark the thread as problem solved? I'm pretty new to this fourm.

You can edit the first post indicating solved or something. You can't modify the thread title without altering a mod which you can do so by reporting the thread (ideally the OP).

I have something simmilar. It's kind of strange but for me if I'm i ofw and turn off the console by holding power for some time and than choosing option to shut down all is great I press vol + and power and it goes to RCM fine either from PC or dongle everything works great. But when I'm in cfw (for now seems almost any as I've tested rei and raj) when I do the same pres power to turn off and then vol + and power to go to rcm console stays on black screen and dongle does not work and when connecting to pc it detects switch after fev seconds but screen is still black without backlight. I need to hold power for longer period and then I can enter RCM normal way and can boot to any cfw. Don't know what could cause this but it was fine probably about 2 months ago. I think I can change volume in this strange mode as when I finally boot to os OFW or CFW volume is on max probably because I was holding vol+ and power when trying to go to RCM.

For some reason having the same exact issue. It really suddenly happened while I was transfering some files on SD card. My PC didn't register my switch as an APX, what I did was I held the power button for roughly about 15 sec and it was recognized in RCM.
Idk if this is related to this problem, but ReiNX on the first boot doesn't launch after sending the payload - screen just stays black. I have to press power button again which my switch gets on RCM and THEN when I launch the payload for the second time it works.

my SX pro dongle went dead,


so i started using the phone and otc adpater, but it stopped working.'


I then used the PC, but even after I hold down power and shut off. And try to restart in RCM with power and volume up it stays black.


I too hold hold power for a few seconds and hit power and volume up and then the payload gets injected while its a connected to pc.

If I mess with it like turn on and turn completely off and play with power, I eventually get into rcm Ive gotten used to doing this



Only changes are i got some new controllers for it, a pro controller and new set of switch joy cons..

my theory so far is maybe I have a bad jig....hmmm or there was some silent update via controllers???
