Well I was unable to install starfall at the time (due to my dumbness I guess)
Reading your post on Wiibrew forums, you were pressing the wrong buttons.

It's B + 1, not B + 2.

Well it's too late

My wife was watching tv and I used my commodore 1084s pal monitor (gray output with ntsc wii)... In the disclaimer screen then I read 1 as 2 I guess...
Anyway...

I think I know the problem. Da system files appear to be corrupt. You should try uncorrupting da system files.

Anyways, what exactly we're you trying to do?

That text above is just a demo of a custom apploader to patch the system menu. The actual goal is to patch system menu with a disk apploader so that it boots into the recovery mode...

ps: This is possible in

yeah but the program itself says it should be b+2 so most people were getting problems with that...

The people getting the problems should've read the disclaimer.

that's true...

hey wiicrazy, any improvements?

Well sunday was a busy day with all other stuff so I couldn't work on patching... now I'm educating myself with the low level ppc stuff... as long as I have the possibility of running unsigned code it all boils down to my skill on the subject... and that is improving...

QUOTE(djdynamite123 @ Nov 3 2008, 08:58 PM) like we all know, too many users DON'T READ readme's or disclaimers.

Well I guess it's just a measure to force the user to read the disclaimer... I had read the relevant info on wiibrew before attempting installing so the problem was actually my 14inch pal commodore 1084s monitor displaying black and white with my ntsc wii and me being careless... anyway, it doesn't matter now...

it seems to be another way to learn yourself how to code, so there is actually a good part on this one

(still hope you can fix it although the new method to get into the recovery didn't help for you...

Thank you for your support!

Now I'm burning a patcher for diagdisc check... I'll see into it if it'll make a difference... I give it a 1% chance...

who knows it might make a difference...

It didn't work as I expected... Actually now it came to my mind... if it had indeed worked than I wouldn't even need the recovery menu since my basic problem was with the autoboot function was not working... It seems now the problem is not in the drive but in the system menu's launching a disc... it misbehaves in the type of brick that I currently have...

My best bet is to buy another wii since currently I don't have time for all this hacking business... I have a thesis yet to complete till Jan.

ps: by the way my above remark is not correct since relevant diag disc check function is only called from recovery menu code...

too bad it didn't work, but maybe you could still finish the project (over time) for other people so they might use it... or did you had another idea?

Of course I may from time to time return and test some things... but a real solution is complex hence I'm leaving it to those who have much more skill in the subject...

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
