Does StartPatch v4.1 work on System Menu v4.2?
If not, is StartPatch v4.2 out?

It shouldn't work on 4.2U, but it should be released soon.
Yep... It errors! =(

Of course it does! It is v4.1, and it is *looking* for v4.1 system menu.....which is not there because you are on 4.2!

I am eagerly awaiting an updated startpatch myself tho....

Yep... No MPT, until v4.2 is released.

IT OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T WORK!!!
Theres a reason why 4.1 is in the title...
Its because i has hacks that only can be used on 4.1...
If you want to flame...fine, but it was a valid question.

It shouldnt be hard for the dev to update, at least for US, becasue there is already a preloader hacks.ini for 4.2U, so he can just get the patches from it. Maybe the dev is porting the patches for PAL?

though i am on 3.2U bump for the 4.2 brewers out there! this app will be important thing to have in place with the look of things people will surely delete ios and act a fool rather than overwrite them w/ originals and this could be the only hope

I emailed the author to ask him if v4.2 is being worked on, as well as offered to help beta test should he need it. No reply yet, but here's hoping for the best.

I just finished porting the codes to 4.2 for the scene. Now it's up to the maker of StartPatch to port them into his program.

We do not have the source for Startpatch, do we?

Sadly startpatch and starfall are both closed source, otherwise it would be (theoretically) pretty easy to substitute in the preloader hacks. Or make it compatible with a preloader hacks.ini.

Don't most Backup Loaders have an anti update thing built in?? It's only really needed for mod chips, I reckon.

USB loader is awesome. No updates from there.

BTW, I reckon it's best to stay up to date with the N updates, anyway. Less hassle. The HBC will always be able to be installed.

Anyway, news on a startpatch4.2 would be good.

Well, not entirely. Startpatch 4.0.5(6) (the one for System Menu 4.0) is open source. Source-zip contained in the main archive. Just change the codes and the executable to patch and it should probably work. If lacking trucha-bugged IOS, an IOS_Reload to 249 would probably do the trick.

If the dev changed the patch format to the format used in Raven's menuloader, it would not need to be updated for new system menus, it would automatically work on any system menu.

EDIT: He does use that format, there is no reason why the current Start Patch wont work. Just make sure you have trucha IOS36 (if you use ver 4.0) or IOS249 (if you use ver 4.1). I dont see why there had to be an update for 4.1 either. Could someone who has bootmii as boot2 try either StartPatch 4.0 or 4.1, and check they do work?

I'm on System Menu v4.2 (updated with Waninkoko's Firmware Updater), and StartPatch v4.1 does NOT work!
I believe I verified this, in one of my previous posts.
