Homebrew Starte Kit Won't Update

Title says it all. I copy the new starter kit from Smea's site to the SD card, but it still says 2.5 beta and won't let me crash back to the home menu. I was trying to get my brother into the eShop using ctr httpwn so he could get Pokemon Yellow.

You have to update the payload... (what's your entrypoint?)

You need to update the payload for each entrypoint, even if you're on the same firmware as before? The entrypoints he has are menuhax and Ironhax. If that's the case, I guess I forgot. It's been so long since I really needed new Homebrew stuff since I joined the CFW club.

Thank you. I thought all the important stuff was in the boot.3dsx and the "3ds" folder. Like I said, I've been using CFW for so long I've forgotten the finer points of Homebrew. Thanks!
