I have my 3DS almost perfectly set up, but I still have some snags. I'm currently running 4.2 sysNAND, 9.4 emuNAND, and all my games are installed as a CIA. I don't want to have to carry around my Gateway red card since it uses a lot of power while inserted, and I'd like to carry around my blue card instead since I am using CIA's. Is there any way to start Gateway mode without needing to have my red card on me? If not, it's not a huge deal. Right now I'm playing mostly 3DS games, so the blue card isn't being used much anyway, but if I exit Smash Bros then it returns to sysNAND which could be annoying if I'm not carrying my red card.

For your problem, I can suggest you to press Home, start another app, then close that app. In that way your 3DS won't go into black screen.

As for your question, there is no way to start gateway mode without red cart. Sorry.

I'm 99 % certain you cannot start Gateway mode up without the red card.
When you close Smash bros however you can hit home and go into download play. This will prevent the system from soft rebooting and you'll stay in gateway mode.

Thanks guys, I did not know about this so it should help.

Does look like it. This tutorial never actually starts Gateway mode.

I don't remember what they're called, I just know you can't enter the first mode on the list without the card.

There was a time where we were able to bypass the school's network using a VPN that wasn't blocked on the radar. Can't exactly remember the name, but I was able to watch YouTube.
