Metacritc used a low review made 2 days before year close to not give Zelda the goty , that site was never used for any review later, just used to low average Zelda score .. This is metacrit

picked up from ebgames, only played about an hour last night and i do LIKE it, but not love it.

most people will agree the control scheme is the defining factor here and while it is certainly a challenge, to not include an OPTION for standard pro controller mode is diabolical. no excuse. star fox command had more precise control with the stylus.

have not tried guard game yet

edit: it was confirmed you do NOT need amiibo to unlock the black arwing/snes arwing

I absolutely despise the fact that Nintendo forces this control scheme on us with no options. Sure practice makes perfect but for seasoned vets of the game that just want to use classic controls that work it's a real headache! Also why so many different vehicle options?!?! Seriously they only take away from the fun factor, I loved the simplicity yet solid lineup of starfox64's arwing/battletank/sub combo.

The graphics are nice tho lol

Ugh ugh ugh

Hoping Nintendo releases an update for optional/custom controls!!!!

I'm getting a lot of mixed signals with this game.

+ It has somewhat of traditional controls like Splatoon
+ Graphics look really good
+ Has voice acting (well, it's a Star Fox game so that's kind of expected)
+ Comes with a special demo of Star Fox Guard with infinite tries

Now, the problem with it is that even though it has a traditional-ish control-feel it still feels clunky and can't help but feel disappointed and then there's the fact that the voices ONLY come out through the GamePad. Think I might trade it in at a store for cash because this isn't the game I hoped for.

Edit: There are some frame drops here and there.

playing it with headphones plugged into gamepad ... it's nice feeling it gives sensation like being into the airwing playing with dark room.
maybe that their intention.
would have been a dream having it multiplayer online with headset microphone plugged into gamepad.

Yeah, I've considered that but in doing so I'd be losing the in-game music. SFZ is a tough nut to crack as to its original intentions.

Traded it in today for what I paid. I'll just wait for the used copies' prices to go down and then pick one up but by then I sure hope that the game's gotten valuable patches to make the experience better.

having turned off motion controls for all but holding ZR it is a lot better and more traditional. i actually like the moves and barrel rolls being mapped to the analog stick commands.

sold Guard for $20 and with that in mind the price feels right.

My full opinion on the game is here: Star Fox Zero

But to summarize, this game is hella fun when it just plays like another star fox game, but the controls take too long to get used to and even when you do there's too much possibility for random error. That said, it's not a bad game by any means.
