Scroll up and re-read my post. It was about how the hacks are done. Version check is just a feature of Starfall, not a technical barrier to installing the hacks on other firmware. It IS possible for the same hacks to work on newer firmware, we just don't know because the only software that allowed them has a version check. And as raulpica noted, there is a chance of bricking if the addresses in the new firmware are changed.

The new 4.0 system menu is installed at a different memory location as a different IOS, isn't it? There's no chance Starfall will work without an update if that's the case. Even if they just remove the version check. Which I'm sure they added for exactly this reason, heh.

People asking if there will be updates to stuff are weird. When have there NOT been updates? Twilight hack has been updated, new modchips have always been released, nothing is uncrackable or unhackable. Just relax. You've already got 3 billion downloaded games and Wiiware and crap anyway, it's not like you don't have anything to do in the meantime.

starfall patch the system menu
the system menu is completely overwrite during an update
starfall is only compatible with system menu 3.2

these ARE facts
sorry that the answer you get do not satisfy you

It's good that you're not hurt, because you also don't know what "taking words out of context" means. I said there's a chance it might work, and you said that I somehow knew this for a fact.

I think it's you who needs to re-read what I said. I said "I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but if you know this for fact then why ask us?" because you seemed to be speaking as though you thought that was a fact. You are trying to take what I said and get another meaning other than what I actually said about it. Apparently pulling one word out of what I said and taking it completely out of the context in which it was said (the above sentence) isn't taking things out of context eh? At any rate, this is a dumb argument.

another fact:
"v0.5 is the final version of Starfall - there won't be any new versions. "
right from wiibrew http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Starfall

everyone is concentrating on starfall, but there is something fairly new and just as easy to install that will need updating to work with the 4.0 update and that's preloader. that was a GREAT brick saver. worked with my wiimote so i didn't have to dig out a GC controller. it saved my wii once before i got my chip. i personally am keeping my HBC installed on the wii in case a new preloader comes out fort he option to load to HBC. 4.0 is too great of an update to pass by with makes motivation for improvement of out Homebrews. i freed up half of my wii space this morning loading my SD card with VC games.

If you have a modchip, you already have update protection. Starfall had other cool features though, like removing that annoying menu music.

preloader doesn't work either. Besides the brick protection utilities, everything else has been updated and should be working on 4.0.
