Stand Up Comedy

Tough one, I find many comedians can get a few laughs from me but for to do it consistently throughout their act is another thing entirely. If anything I favour the more political/society analysis stuff rather than "what is the deal with......" or "......, remember those!".
More importantly I have seen many comedians who are funny but in 10 odd years of being active they never change their act which is a heinous offence in my opinion.
Alas I have not been to as many live shows as I would have liked to of late but still

Mark Thomas- I recently watched serious organised criminal and even for those not in the UK I suggest it.
Dylan Moran- if you ever saw the TV series Black Books he was the owner, his stand up is even better (and I really liked Black Books).
Bill Bailey - granted not quite the same as the others on this list and he does favour music based humour quite often (my appreciation of music falls shortly behind my appreciation of art which is usually "whoo, it is a picture")
Joe Brand- for some reason I find her hilarious

I think Chapelle has a funny show, but I don't find his stand up so great.
Dane Cook is just terrible. About as funny as a 14-year-old screaming and being loud trying to make people like him. Not funny at all.

-George Carlin is the one that makes me almost cry laughing. Its so good it hurts, and he actually makes some good points about society, religion, war, and stupidity. Some of his shows I could listen to forever and still crack up. (ie: airport/airplane bit, and words that make no sense are a few) But I hated "Life is Worth Losing" because its way too dark and gross. I am glad his final show was really good and made up for it.

-Just found out about Bill Hicks recently, and I like what I see so far. Too bad he had to die so young.

-Robin Williams is alright sometimes as well. (although he can be somewhat annoying at times)

Aside from that I am not much of a fan of stand-up comedy. I guess I have a very particular sense of humor. A lot of the perverted and racially fueled humor kinda turns me off.

Not that too many remember, but Robin Williams had some hilarious stand up.

And Dennis Miller was pretty good a long time ago, even though he had some really strange references.

But I love pretty much all stand up, so whatever is on is pretty much my favorite!

Eddie Izzard.

He has some good stuff. The skit that got me hooked on him was the "Jeff Vader" AKA "The Deathstar Cantina."

Look it up... hilarious.
