SEGA has announced a new multiplayer online action adventure game called Spiral Knights.
It's being developed by Puzzle Pirates outfit Three Rings and will offer "console-style adventure" in a free-to-play, persistent world.
We're promised "vibrant" graphics, groups of up to four, guilds, crafting and customisation.
The press release doesn't specify, but Spiral Knights looks to be a PC-only game. You can preview Spiral Knights right now from the official website.[/p]
I actually had to search for a valid source here, having heard about the game on Twitter. Naturally, I was intrigued by the name, and it looks to be a fun MMO.
I asked @SEGA on twitter about what platforms it would be on, and while they did not respond, I did recieve a tweet from one person who is of unknown origin (maybe someone who works at SEGA who forgot to log out of their personal Twitter, a beta tester, or a developer. Either way, from her site, she seems to be an MMO nut). @avocadobravado says that the game will run cross-platform Windows, OS/X, and (most importantly) Linux. While it is unknown whether it is a downloadable game or an in-browser game, the fact that it is published by a big-name company and cross-platform implies in-browser. (Although, Three Rings' other game, Puzzle Pirates was written in Java [without using DirectX, etc.], so it was also cross-platform, so this may also be the case here)

Looks very reminiscent of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, no?
