I updated my Switch 2 and I'm okay with it, not like I was planning on getting it hacked to play a new crappy version of Mario Kart (which I currently have) and Donkey Kong Bananza (this might be actually really good).

By the way, I tried Nintendo Switch Sports, the tennis game and you know.. the Joy-Con feels less accurate than a Wiimote. 😕

The one thing i hoped the switch 2 would address is the sensors in the joycons.

Instead they spent all their effort adding a worse form of pointer controls for a couch device than the Wii had.

Thanks for the detailed response! :yay: :yay: :yay: I really appreciate you taking the time to break down the current state of Switch 2 hacking and the challenges involved. It’s super helpful to get a clearer picture of what’s going on (or not going on) in the scene. I’ll keep an eye out for any updates, and thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

I'm still getting to know the notable figures in this scene, so I'm not quite familiar with their main communication channels yet. That makes it a bit hard to keep up with what they're working on or thinking about. Any tips on where to follow updates or discussions from these groups or individuals would be awesome!
It’s better when you don’t go to their channels, because they get super annoyed by unknowledgeable people constantly wasting their time with the same questions.
Leave them alone, if/when something significant happens it will be posted everywhere.

I honestly had really high expectations as I loved Wii Sports, tennis specifically. I don't get that from the Switch version.

Is there going to be a Switch 3 or they'll move to another console? I'd prefer the latter, even Switch 2 isn't doing that great for the brand. Maybe in the future it'll get better, but right now it kinda sucks. 😕

How is switch 2 not great for the brand. Yeah, it isn't as novel as the switch 1, but it's still selling lots.
As for the next console, in this gaming era, Nintendo can only move on to a full docked console, or keep the hybrid format. And as you've seen from meant other modern handhelds, the current form factor, controls on the side and screen in the middle, seems like the best way to do a handheld.

I don't get why people are buying them when there's basically no games.. gotta have that new shiny thing for no reason!
1. There are games
2. Many are digital only
3. Every* Switch 1 game
4. Mainly without performance issues
5. Mario Kart World
6. Stop assuming so much about other people. Just because it's not necessarily a financially sound decision for you (as it seems you don't think it has a good game selection to justify the price), doesn't mean that's true for everyone else.

I don't but new things because they are new nor shiny. I have, and will continue, to purchase every Nintendo console/handheld. I'll most likely pre-order them, even though Nintendo has routinely messed up something in their first shipment (usually Wi-Fi issues).

Edit: I also enjoy playing most of my Switch collection on the S2. It has free updates for the majority of my collection.

Mario Kart World doesn't excite me. I've only played it once... when the wife's family stopped by for a visit. Haven't played solo at all. I've played a bit of DK though. Not so bad so far... but I got sucked into Silksong, because it's so annoying (counter-intuitive, I know... I could just download the Switch 1 version and use cheats. But... I'm too invested right now to bother with cheats). What sold me early on, is Prime 4, actually. Yes, I know it will be on the Switch 1 as well. So... I guess I'll have to admit that DK helped my decision along.

Mario Kart World? Dude, you must be joking. That game might be good in a few years, but right now it isn't.

Really stretching the list there with reasons to get s2. Honestly there are no system seller titles yet for the s2. I think it might change when a new Mario or Zelda drops, or duskbloods. in my country, the market is flooded with old switch 2s because most people are feel done with it.

You have to understand that this forum is filled with Nintendo-hating trolls like Marc, who say things that are hilarious regarding a lack of games and ignoring the fact that it is the best selling game machine in human history. They look foolish because they are foolish. No need to feed those trolls.

And??? I got MSI 7 Claw on special at half the price of Switch 2, can play all switch games and the millionms of PC games.

The price os Switch 2 is a ripoff with the pc based handhelds when it has a library less than 1% of pc and that includes switch titles. Plus switch and switch 2 pc ports are so inferior to the pc releases that I am seeing better detail, framerates and battery life on high end phones with the winbdows emulators.

You can purchase it for the tiny few exclusives but when you look at SSD prices to upgrade storage for yoiur pc handheld vs the microsd express cards, imediately makes it expensive handheld.

Heck I got GPD Win Max 2 and upgraded to 8TB SSD, can a swith 2 upgrade the storage to 8TB? How much is it to upgarde to 2TB? Wait that is still not on market, lets look at 1TB, umm so many fakes, a proper on costs more than 1 3rd of the switch 2, it is real waste of money when with that price I can get high end 2tB to decent 4tb ssd.

Enjoy supporting a device locking yopu to a format under utilised by other devices and priced that the competition kills it. Man, I am suprised 2tb microsd express is still not available, great for there are more games digitally but to play more than a couple to a few, it will cost you massvily.

They talk about the lack of games for a system they would like hacked as soon as possible to play these non-existent games for free.....

I'm aware. I just felt like answering for fun. Then I got a bunch of notifications from people responding with points that have absolutely nothing to do with anything. ☺️

There is a lack of games.. no main Mario or Zelda, just another Mario Kart that really could've been DLC for 8 and a DK game that has the novelty wear off quickly.. also better performing S1 games is a negligible reason to buy it. Doesn't matter if it sells fast, that just means people bought into the hype. I've gotten plenty of enjoyment out of my S1 but there really is no reason to buy a S2 unless you can't help yourself not to

Trying to write off Mario Kart World as "could've been DLC for 8" really shows that you know absolutely nothing about Mario Kart World. It could not have run on Switch 1 without significant compromises, let alone be DLC.

Keep in mind that this post does not suggest that one must like Mario Kart World. I don't know or care if you like the game itself.

The rest is all subjective. Some people might really like Donkey Kong Bananza, or maybe running older games at higher performance is a significant feature to them, especially if said games ran poorly on Switch 1 (notable example is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet).

Maybe none of this matters to you personally, but everyone's reasons for buying a console are different.

So, to you, a Mario or Zelda game is a requirement before you can consider a Nintendo console to have any games at all? Even if the last main line Zelda and Mario games were just released 2 years prior?
