hi,
i have a sky3ds on its way to me from new3dscard.co.uk

i would like to get my microsd card ready for when it arrives. So i have a few questions id like to ask please....

I have used the diskwriter tool from sky3ds to format it... what do i do next? do i need to copy template files to the memcard too?

can i rename my roms before copying them across to the diskwriter, so that i know what each rom is?

can i trim roms using tokyo rom trimmer?

and is it true that you can only put 31 games onto a memcard?

thank you for your help

also after formatting the mem card using diskwriter.... it put a setup.zip file on there and it now says my memcard is 0kb free of 492kb... its a 32gb though. It said it was 32gb before i formatted it in the diskwriter app

The program writes a small partition with the setup.zip and hides the other partition with your games from Windows. You just can't access all the game folders and stuff but if you open up Diskwriter it says its ok

kugz... i finally got it back to working with the setup.zip file back on it... i assume you can delete this file? is this where i put all the template files into?

You do not put any files on the SD manually ... !

All you need to do is use the Disk Writer.
And with the newest Disk Write you don't even need to rename the ROMs because it recognises and names the Game itself, you might only want to do it so that you know yourself which file is which game.

about the Template, you have to open the Disk Writer and choose the Template there, that's all to it !

P.S. don't just delete any files randomly -.- when the disc writer places that setup.zip on the SD there might be a reason to it ...

skystealer? i did not steal a sky3ds!im not going into any details.. but im still waiting for it to come.... should be here by friday hopefully.

youkai... thank you.
answered couple of my questions.
do i put all the template files into same folder as the diskwriter.exe?

is it safe to trim roms with a standard trimmer... not a super trimmer?

i cant drag n drop a rom to the diskwriter window.... am i doing this correct?

umm you might want to stop doing double and even triple posts ...
just edit your answer if you want to add something
Maybe your SD is full ? usually it should work.

and I think it doesn't matter where the template is as long as it is mounted in the program ;)

No idea about Trimming ... you should not add to much games anyways as it takes some times to change from one game to the next.

i click write, select the rom.... a important message pops up saying...
contains invalid data and has been replaced with the data in the template.
says do i wish to add another copy... yes or no?

also says this is a EEPROM type game.....

do i click yes?

i clicked yes, but it then said "failed to write data, unable to complete action"

sorted it... had to restart diskwriter and unplug mem card and reinsert it

nothing to worry about though is there... as gateway is good too.. both have good n bad points, just means cant use gateway on latest fw.

i just need to know if anyone has used a rom trimmer to trim roms for use with sky3ds. I heard you can trim doing standard trim using tokyo rom trimmer, but cant do a super trim using other trimmers.

has anyone trimmed roms and are they ok?

What the point to rip or trim rom..

Just buy a 32gb micro sd.

i have a 32gb micro card... but idea of trimming is to save on space, so can fit more onto the card. Some roms can be trimmed to half their size

There no need to trim rom since the diskwritter can only writer 31 games per micro sd.

but if roms are big in size, then will fit lot less than 31 onto it... so if trim them, then can get closer to the 31 limit per card.
wonder if they will remove the 31 game limit?
