Think about it this way. Sony only has 3D through Blu Ray film technology, and you still need a TV or output sources capable of displaying said 3D features, yet they don't have true 3D gaming in the same sense as what we are experiencing with 3D films. I think it is highly ambitious of Nintendo to go down the 3D road just yet, but maybe they have invested enough time, R&D and money into developing a hand held device capable of the same kinds of 3D imaging we see in film. Do I think it's possible with a device similar to the DS in size? No I don't at this current frame in time. That said, we are also talking about Nintendo here, the most ambitious gaming company in the industry right now and they are willing to do anything to bring back the interest of hardcore gaming players with a hand held that features cutting edge technology. I think they intend to use the same ideas for their next home console as well, being the first to adapt the technology is the first to make it popular.
