I use them all the time now!

Sony is not really an innovator like Nintendo. The PSP simply relies on power to make up what missing in imagination. Lucky for Sony some developers have make good games for that platform.

I highly doubt Nintendo will have ANY 3D hardware in it, most likely it will be similar to a Japanese DSIware app (can't remember the name).

Nintendo didn't call out Sony when they ripped off their motion controls!
Anyway who wants 3D in games?!?! Isn't that meant for movies?!??!?!

is it just me or sony always have things that are not the right time for it.

like the go should been released later when al is digital and 3d when the time is ready sony must do his things in the right time.

I'd post that "sony makes a lolipop" Penny Arcade comic, but I'm sure someone else is already planning to.
No one was planning to.

I'm sure Sony is at the "Shit, we have to be FIRST. NOW." stage after Nintendo released their 3DS statement.

I said this in another thread like this: just because they don't "innovate" their consoles doesn't mean they're bad. The PSP may not be imaginative, but it's got more features and power than the DS. Nintendo nowadays makes up for their lack of major hardware advancement with "innovation". That's not necessarily a bad thing, but neither is bettering an already good concept. Sony has come on top with the PSX and the PS2. They may be at a disadvantage this generation, but the PS3 is the rising star and the PSP has still been the biggest Nintendo handheld competitor to date.

So for your statement, I could easily say "The DS simply relies on imagination to make up what [it's] missing in power".

Anyway, I wouldn't really call this article "calling out". This ain't the ghetto. Sony just feels it's better to pursue 3-D elsewhere, just not on a handheld. Odds are the PSP2 will be like the PSP except with more features and more power. That's not a bad thing at all.

I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is recently with 3D everything. I hadn't heard about 3D PS3 before this, then again the only PS news I care fore ATM is if there is a new CFW for my PSP, 3DS is somewhat groan inducing for me just because it's a system that is gonna have exclusive games so I'll probably have to get one.

As for the news at hand I have to just shake my head at Sony, Nintendo is doing what I feel they do best, portable gaming. You just stick with what you do best and make videogame systems that are out of the budget for most gamers yet still costs more to make than they sell for.

If Nintendo has figured out affordable glasses free 3D then great! Don't rag on em! This is technology that if applied right could be put into hospital equipment to give a more true 3D view of what's going on inside someone's body! Nintendo could be great technological pioneers in that regard!

Or I'm just having too much fun now with the thought of futuristic 3D stuff. XD

Honestly, I think sony is sore at nintendo because they didn't think of it first. I know I will be eagerly awaiting e3 news about the nintendo 3ds. As soon a they are available for preorder, I will be in line!

I don't know why people bitch about "another ds" it won't be out in the usa till probably holiday season '11

I agree, that's what I've been trying to say all along.................

Think about it this way. Sony only has 3D through Blu Ray film technology, and you still need a TV or output sources capable of displaying said 3D features, yet they don't have true 3D gaming in the same sense as what we are experiencing with 3D films. I think it is highly ambitious of Nintendo to go down the 3D road just yet, but maybe they have invested enough time, R&D and money into developing a hand held device capable of the same kinds of 3D imaging we see in film. Do I think it's possible with a device similar to the DS in size? No I don't at this current frame in time. That said, we are also talking about Nintendo here, the most ambitious gaming company in the industry right now and they are willing to do anything to bring back the interest of hardcore gaming players with a hand held that features cutting edge technology. I think they intend to use the same ideas for their next home console as well, being the first to adapt the technology is the first to make it popular.

I sent a letter to nintendo 2 weeks ago complaining about the lack of DSi games (there are none in UK only dsiware)
they sent a reply stating that in the next 2 to 3 months we will see DSi ONLY software on shelves for the first time, from both first party and third party developers utilising the DSi's full power and features. Finally!

just thought you should know this as it will probably mean the dsi gets software to shops from july to march with the 3DS coming out after they have made enough software sales from dsi.

prediction... 3DS on sale 1st March 2011
