I got this built just now after some trial and error. you have to boot the self executable, so it's not a pkg. read the info here (not sure if it's the fake self or the normal self that you want, so I included both): https://github.com/ultra0000/RSDKv5-Decompilation

it doesn't work atm, seems to be something to do with sdl2.

Oh gonna have to get my PS3 out of storage now.

The dream would be to see a Genesis/Megadrive version but that's never gonna happen lol.

IIRC the game was actually designed around the idea of 'what if the Saturn had a 2D sonic game'.

don't get it out just yet. I'm testing it. it's creating the files, but it's returning me to the xmb whenever I load it. it takes several seconds for this to happen, and I think it may be related to the data folder.

Does the data need to be on USB:/RSDK?

I am unsure of the folder structure where the data belongs.

it needs to be in dev_usb000/SonicMania , and it has to a be a decompiled data.rsdk, so it should be a data folder.

Update:
I got it working. I am using 720p

A few issues I ran into:

1. Slow loading
2. Level stuttering
3. No audio at all

The first two could probably be fixed if the developer could add archive such as zip because I know that too many files in a directory will slow loading speed down.

yeah, it's still very early. that could be why I can't build a working copy. the developer just added the build yesterday, so I'm hoping he'll respond to the issue I brought up about building. I got past that. it builds, just doesn't work. not sure why.
 
Well it works with me, as in being playable in-game. Even the special stages work better than on WIi with less slowdown.

Another issue I forgot to mention was that analog is not working either.

Hopefully he will add archive support to speed up loading even if its just the store method instead of compression.

you're using my build or the one on github?
 
The one you linked in the first post. I have these files as well:

I used the ManaGuns file manager to launch the .SELF executeable.

hmm, so I guess it was mine. I was using multiman. I'll try managunz at some point, I have to unplug an hdmi cable to plug in the ps3, so it won't be till tomorrow or something maybe. should I reup it?
 
I've asked for assistance regarding why it doesn't work. there were no errors while compiling. they did make a mistake in the instructions though, so who knows if there are others.
