PS1/2 Some questions about backing-up

Soo, I'm new at this thing and I don't really know where to start, so I have some questions.

What software do I need to use to make back-ups? In what format should they be and do games burned on a DVD-R work with the original model PS2?

You make the backup like you would any other disc image. Just use a program such as imgburn to make an iso from the disc. They will work on any model PS2 so long as it is chipped.

The only modchip I have is the one needed to play NTSC games since my PS2 is a PAL model, is that what you're talking about?

No, a PS2 without a mod chip wont play backups at all as the PS2 can detect its not a real PS2 disc.

Thank you very much! A micro SD card reader works fine too in place of the flash drive right? Now all I need is Action Replay...do you have a pic of the Action Replay you used?


Oh and I forgot to mention, it can play pirated games, just in case it has to with anything.

Haven't tried, but I think (80%) you can.

Yes it can play pirated games but don't pirate games, its just bad for everyone.

What I meant was, if my PS2 can already play pirated games, can't it also play back-ups without doing anything to it?

So your PS2 IS moded?!? Backups and pirated games are the same to the PS2.

P.S. I hear DVD-R's are the way to go but DVD+R's work too.

the newer ps2's can read dvd+r's and dvd-r's
the older ones can only read dvd-r's

YES!!!!! Sorry I didn't tell you before

burn it at x2.4 I use ImgBurn (free).
