Hey,

I'm facing an issue with USB Loader GX. I followed wii.guide to mod my wii.

I have a 32GB flash drive (FAT32 formatted) where I put my games with Wii Backup Manager. Some worked flawlessly, like Wii Sports and Wii Party, but many froze at random. Games like Wii Music, Twilight Princess, Mario Kart Wii, and Mario Galaxy all froze at random moments. They were playable, but freezeable too.

In USB Loader GX, the base IOS is set to 58, and the game IOS is set to 251.
It can't detect a base IOS in slots 56 and 57, even though they are installed.
Game IOS slots 249 and 250 don't work.

Here is my Syscheck:

I'm new to all this, and I cannot figure out what is going wrong. I don't have any discs that I can check with. Only USB Loader GX.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Hello,

Is USB loader gx up to date (version 1272)?

your games are played with the cios 249 or 250.

you have the cios with the version of cios d2x like this ==>

IOS249 [56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250 [57] (Rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

You can try with the version of cios d2x version 8 final

You can test with other loaders like, Wiiflow or Configurable loader v70.

The usb keys are not reputed to play properly with the wii (often black screen or does not work), prefer an external hard drive and you will have a better result.

You can test, by putting your usb key in WBFS format, and see the result ??

Hello jeannotte.

Yes, USB loader is up to date.

USB loader GX uses cIOS slot 251. 249 and 250 do not work.

I could try d2x final 8. What configuration should I install it in? (base number, slot number, and version)

I tried CFG loader, it could not load my flash drive.

I also tried the WBFS format. Same result.

So now I can either try installing d2x final 8, or, get an HDD. Which HDD is recommended for Wii's (brand and size)? My Wii is a white one with Gamecube ports.

The Western Digital works well with the wii, and for the storage capacity, you have to see, 500 GB, 1 TB, but not more than 2 TB.

compatibility wii games with usb support (a bit old, but good) ==>https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Devices_Compatibility_List
Thanks. WD Elements 1TB seems good, and has "works" under all 3 columns.

So, should I really go with the HDD now? Nothing else worth trying? (Wanna make sure before I spend money on it, lol)

Guueeessss what. While USB Loader GX and CFG Loader did not work at all, I tried WiiFlow, and my games don't crash or freeze anymore! It's almost miraculous. No need to get an HDD now! (Well, except for when my flash drive is full)
