Hacking Some assistance choosing hardware

Ok, I'm very new to the DS scene.
From what i've seen the DSi seems to have some problems with FW 1.4.

I am undecided if I should buy a DSl or a DSi.
My main use will be using IRC and probally DSLinux. Playing *backups* of my DS games and most importaintly..... NES SMB3


So what is the best choice for me. Either way I think the (Acekard 2i AK2i Multimedia SDHC TF Cart for DSi/NDSi/DS Lite ) from DX dot com is what I wanna get. Several people say its very stabe and update often.

I'd like to know, what are the main differences and reasons to get a DSi above a DSL. Its seems like you loose the ability to play GBA games in exchange for .5" larger screen??

DSL, I don't think all homebrew is working as it should on the DSi.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Frankly I don't see that much cool benefits from the DSI. I mean, on DSL you can play GBA games, it is "well known" so the flashcards work wonderfully, etc... On DSI the only thing I thought would be really interesting is the online store, but other than that I don't the cameras are that useful, and from the spects it seems the battery is a lil smaller.
