Hacking Soldering question

I was thinking that soldering would be a piece of cake (my first time), but it is hard as hell. My question is, what do you do first? I'm doing a wire install, but should I heat solder onto the wire tip first, and then attach the wire tip to the connection? Or should I put solder on the Wii connections first and then heat up the solder again so I can attach the wire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

General soldering method is as such

-heat to two items you are trying to connect.
-apply a SMALL amount of solder to the contacts (do not touch the iron with the solder)
-remove the iron

So you're saying I should heat up the end of the wire and the Wii connection, and then stick a bit of solder to the two of them?

So, you just use the iron to heat up the connections, remove the iron, put the wire and Wii points in contact, and then feed some solder to connect them?

I think you have the right idea.

Google found this. I generally never had to worry about clean up but most of my jobs didn't require neatness.
