Softmodded XBox Not Reading Backups

I've just softmodded my XBox with the splinter cell method (yay!) and I made a backup iso of my half-life 2, and it wont start it, along with any other backup game. I'm using dvd+r by Maxell. The drive is Phillips if that matters. I would cold boot the game and then it would hang at the XBox logo after the boot animation, except there is no small microsoft text under it. Any help would be great!

You might have to adjust the laser POT a bit.

I'd suggest dumping your EEPROM and building a bigger HDD.
Loading from HDD is preferred over DVD.

These consoles are known or the drives dieing, theres brand new samsung drives on ebay right now.Id recommend a bigger hard drive though, its way better than having to burn dvds.

You might want to try burning the game on a different DVD, and with a different burning program. When I used to mess around with my old Xbox, backups made on Memorex DVD's never seemed to work for me.

I just ended up getting a cheap-o 30 gig HDD. Thanks for the replies though!

Xbox is very picky about what it reads. If you didn't properly prepare the iso (gotta build it through some particular program) before burning, it generally won't run. I forget the exact details, as I haven't tried to get a backup disc to run on an Xbox in like 10 years. Going for an HDD is a much better idea, hope it works out for you (though 30's pretty small!)

I didn't really think I would need a ton of storage. Maybe 5 games and a couple of emulators is what I was shooting for.
