Hi any chance we will see a softmod solution this year? Or could we be waiting sometime next year?

What are you basing this assumption on? There are builds of Atmosphere running already. The git commits have also slowed down which usually means that a release is imminent.
Or that there is something difficult to solve...
Who knows^^
Seeing some of the milestones (in project tab on github), it's around half there but maybe it's not really representing the progress. Let's see if end of summer is achievable (say end of August but actually could go a month later or even beyond).

Or if you read on the discord servers some people are on holiday and, you know, are having a bit of a break :) Summer after all.

Seems like they've redone some of the SD drivers though which were causing headaches so another step forward and all that!

We have a softmod for months now. The whole RCM stuff does not require any modification of the hardware. We even got a hardmod by soldering eg a Trinket into the switch.

He definitely means software solution (which isn't softmod tho). That's probably what he means.

But RCM is a software solution. No modification of the hardware is needed
Yea, but softmod and software solution is not the same for most people. Softmod is booting cfw without any hw modification. Software solution (what most people want) is something like henkaku. Booting cfw thru browser or other stuff.

That's how most people see and call it.

No, but booting cfw without hw mods is a softmod. Also every other modification done by only modifying the software is softmod. Every modification that involves modifying the hardware is a hardmod. It is not thaaaaat difficult, is it? ;)

Lol. I just briefly explained to you what people call this stuff. Obviously it is softmod, but people call it differently. It is not that dificult to understand now is it? ;)

Kool ty i think i'll stay on fw 4.1.0 then
A method of launching CFW through the browser on 4.1.0 exists privately, but it is unlikely to be released anytime soon for various reasons. In other words, systems on 3.0.1 and higher will probably require a jig and/or AutoRCM to launch CFW for a very long time. An untethered software exploit for launching CFW on 1.0.0-3.0.0 also exists privately, but it's likely to be released far sooner.

Buying a cheap jig or making one out of a paperclip isn't very difficult. If you're content with your device being tethered on each coldboot, you also only need a jig one time to install AutoRCM.

If you're content with using AutoRCM, you can also upgrade to 5.1.0 without burning any efuses and preserving a downgrade path back to 4.1.0.

1) you need to stop writing wrong things
2) stop 'correcting' people who are right - like me
3) instead correct those who say wrong things

You understand what the OP and he means. They want something that doesn't require an RCM Jig. Easy enough to understand, right?
