PS1/2 Softmod Ps2 - No Disk Reader

Hi GBATemp.
I have an old fat ps2, and i desided it would be nice to play games from an USB-stick.

I've read some methods of modding a ps2, but i've only found methods which make use of the diskreader.
A long time ago, when i was cleaning my ps2, i (somehow) damaged the disk reader, so i can not use this to mod my ps2. Any tips would be welcome. i do have a memory card (just not the fmcb) and i have some usb sticks.

I hope you guys can give me some tips. I wasnt hoping to spend a lot, cause i dont think its worth spending any more on the old beast

There is a softmod method that involves using the fat ps2's network adapter to connect it to an IDE hardrive and using winhiip to apply a custom image. In this way it installs homebrew and a loader for ISOs/other goodies.

free mcboot. Do a google on it and it will install from usb to memory card or internal hard drive if you have one. Once free MCBoot is installed you can setup open ps2loader to autoboot. That will allow games to be played from USB drive, internal drive or over LAN.
