Softchip doesn't run decrypted iso's
Use Gamma if you still have those.
I use both programs.. it's nice to see that softchip is very actively being developed though.

How is the speed and compatibility of Softchip compared to Gamma? For example, does Animal Crossing load slower with Softchip?

There wouldn't be any difference, the Wii's drive is capped at 3X with softmod loaders.

right now there is no big difference between the two loaders. i would go with softchip. it seems to me a little bit faster. but most of the speed is "issues" are caused by a badly coded dip module patch. as soon as the opensource dip module the softchip team is creating most speed issues and disc recognition issues will be solved. could be even faster than nintendos original dip module because of better caching methods.

I already have Gamma installed through hbc of course. Can I just install Softchip the same way and have them co-exist or do I need to do something special first?

Thanks.

Good question. I would also like to know the answer, if anyone has the time.
