Hacking Soft modding effect on saved game data

If I follow the softmodguide will this delete the Mario Kart game data saved in my Wii?
If so, is there any way to transfer this data to SD card etc before soft modding.

An easy answer: no. The softmod guide won't alter or delete any savegames. Just make sure you've got at least a few blocks of free space to install the homebrew channel to.

IIRC, there was a way to transfer savegames to SD card (check the wii manual for that). But I wouldn't advice it: the SD-card is far more likely to require a reformat than your wii's hard disk.

Many games can have their data saved on SD card in accordance with the wii manual. This does not work for Mario Kart and, I understand, other games that can be played online.
So still looking for a way to save the Mario Kart game data to SD card etc
