Misc Socket punch fbi network install on lan w/o internet

I have a network using a wireless router that is not connected to the internet. Socket punch and fbi network install work fine when I am connected to the internet but since the connection I need for this is only a lan one is there any way of doing this without the internet. I can get the connection between computer and 3ds working and a transfer started but it always fails. I suspect it is because the 3ds connects to the router but resets the connection when it can not connect to the internet and then cycles again to retry the connection. How can I get the 3ds to keep connected to the lan that does not have an internet connection?

hmm i think your theory is a good one.
how does the 3ds do the internet test? if its just a simple ping to a server you could probably just redirect that address to the pc or router.
