The Project Pokemon team hasn't "proven their worth" in the field of hacking systems, they've proven their worth in the fields of modifying save files and analyzing network traffic. On the same token I should give credit to someone's theory about the beginnings of cosmos because they're a well-known chef. That's not how specialization works, I'm afraid.

I find this HIGHLY disrespectable. That you think, analyzing a file format (which some times might require reverse engineering), and analyzing network traffic (which can also require reverse engineering), is some how less meaningful, or has less merit, because it doesn't pertain to physical hardware. Personally, I think that you're pulling shit, out of your ass, because these things are passionately intertwined, and you blow one off like it's nothing.

And just to clarify, I mean software and hardware here. Assembly (or other low level languages) is almost a beautiful thing when you dive in and know what you're doing. It's the heart AND soul of the hardware, and there should be some sort of respect for both.

Of course it requires work, it's simply not the same field of expertise. Hacking consoles is not something they generally deal with, so a grain of salt on my part is to be expected. I don't see an issue in gathering information from a number of sources rather than going by just one, especially one with no prior history of this sort of thing. Going by one source alone is what makes the difference between a tabloid and a newspaper.

EDIT: I see that the conflict here is on grounds of disrespect, of which I meant none, so if you took it the wrong way, treat this as a clarification. I will personally wait until more information is gathered by a variety of sources, especially those with prior history in the field, instead of making rash announcements. I believe this has gone for long enough - the thread is about bricking and Gateway firmware, not about the legitimacy of PP as a source regarding console hacking.

And that's where you should have left off at. From what I know about reporting, that is a good point. You shouldn't base your opinion, or facts, on the "quality" of PP's work. It's ok to be skeptical, and wait for more confirmations, but just don't outright diss somebody over it.

See above. I'm not dissing PP or their work, I simply don't find it reliable enough to treat it as the solitary source of information when for all intents and purposes this is not something they have ever worked on before. A part of being a reporter is grading source credibility, but that's besides the point. As I said earlier (you may have missed it), I will look through all available reports, this includes PP's, I'm merely waiting for the most credible sources to voice their opinion. Again, we've gone terribly off-topic here and it's about time to return to the subject at hand rather than discus the achievements of team PP which are admirable in their field.
