especially once my buddy ian started playing as pikacheap.....it was all just meh.

so basically, you and your friends are total noobs at smash.

i consider myself to be a competitive player and can easily beat all my friends. but thats not enough, i have to enter and win future brawl tournaments before im satisfied. i know all the melee techniques. CCing, DI , SHFFL, teching, wave dash, l cancel, etc. etc. i can also use them at will. however, i am far from a tourneyfag. i despise players who main fox/shiek/falco/marth just for their tier position. i main with dr. mario just because he feels right to me unlike forcing a play style.

well here is my opinion on brawl.
I have been waiting for this game for 6 years! i modded my wii JUST for this game. when i thought i broke my dvd drive from a bad solder job (i didn't) i felt so shitty. i was literally so depressed that i wouldn't be able to play brawl after getting this far. anyways to me, brawl is a breath of FRESH AIR. i LOVE brawl. im so glad that its not melee 2.0. that would've sucked. you have to consider that no matter how godly they made brawl, people will Q_Q about it no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT!
i main with diddy and planned so even before diddy was announced on smash dojo.

Sure they removed L canceling, sure they removed wave dashing. but how does this make brawl suck? if you removed snaking from mario kart do you think that people wouldn't play to win anymore or something? the whole meta game in brawl is different. its no longer combo for a few seconds, knock them out of the stage, and edge guard. it is pretty much impossible now to stand at the edge and just spam down a and get a easy kill. There ARE new advanced techniques but do you really expect them ALL to be discovered within 3 weeks when it took YEARS for melee? quit trying to play the game like its melee and quit trying to compare it to melee. they are not the same.

Fox, falco, wolf are NOT clones. Here is why. EVERY CHARACTER IN BRAWL IS MUCH MORE BALANCED THAN IN MELEE. there WILL be a tier list because this is a fighting game afterall, but it will be NOWHERE near like melee's tier list which had fox/shiek/falco/marth at the top everytime. You can literally become godlike with any character if you practice with them enough. for example, meta knight can rack up alot of damage quickly. his attacks are super fast and pretty good priority. he has a couple jumps for recovery AND can glide. but to make him balanced, he cannot KO easily. you have to have people at like 130% before a smash attack will kill them. Fox is still pretty good but he no longer falls AS fast. falco is different than fox in the sense that all his A moves are different in terms of damage, and type and speed. falco is overall slower than fox i'd say. its almost like he got DR. Mario-ed. Falco's shine is even different now. he kicks it and it comes back so you can no longer hold it forever. Wolf is a beast on land. his attacks have ridiculous speed and range. but to balance him, he has shit for recovery. if you get below the stage on final destination or anywhere else, don't expect to get back up. his up+b doesn't even sweetspot as well as other characters. but all his smash attacks and aerials are pretty godlike.
and Lucas.... o man he's like ness on steroids. they are seriously very different except for the B moves which are only slightly different. Lucas can combo sick and his Up Smash is broken (can KO at like 65% uncharged). so don't worry about "clones".

@ Tomobobo.
you can try spamming air dodge on your way down against me. i guarantee any skilled player can time it and attack you during your non-invincible frames.

o yea, personally i think wiimote sucks, wiimote + nunchuck sucks, haven't tried classic controller yet, but gamecube controller still feels like the only solution (at least for a competitive player). i do agree that the loss of analog sucks but i hear theres a mod you can do with your controller where you remove the shoulder springs and its 1000000x better.

mmm, i've let my friends come over to play last saturday. one of my friends came over at 11am and stayed till 9pm. we played the entire time. a few other friends came and i only had 3 gamecube controllers. basically, we are all close friends but we did NOT want to give up the controller since we all wanted to play so bad. Being the host , i made the rule that i never had to give up mine

(homecourt advantage ftw). i had alot more friends that wanted to come play but we all decided not to invite anymore people since rotating even more wouldn't be fun. i go to school about 30 minutes away from home and i live on campus. my friend drove all the way the next day just to play some more brawl. and everyday i have someone asking me to let them play.

So if you are expecting brawl to be melee 2.0, quit your bitching and go back to melee if you love it so much while the rest of us can have a blast with brawl.

P.S i plan on recording my matches and making videos showing how to play Diddy kong (like a pro

). i'll upload them when i get my capture card.

I just like games that are fun. Not interested in playing for 100 hours to master some air cancel wave dodge glitch or any competitive crap.

Can someone with this kind of view tell me how it is? I just like fun...I don't care if a sequel is different than the game before it. It'd be called smash bros melee 2 if they didn't change things. It's called Smash bros brawl so obviously it won't be the same...

Btw: I liked smash bros 64 and melee

I play more in an casual way than a compeitive way, and I totaly dig that game, Favorite game in a while. So yeah you should like it, only expect the gameplay speed to be a bit slower, but after 2-3 match you don't see it anymore.

Me personally I think people who can't play it for example can't recover back to the stage are more likely to not like it. Almost all of my friends who can't play smash don't like it but the ones who can play love it. Think about it what game do you like where you can't play it and its not like you can't beat someone but to the point where you can't even survive without killing yourself?

Brawl's okay IMO. I never really got into SSBM or even SSB64. I might've played a few matches. When I heard about SSBB coming out, I got excited and though "this will be my chance to learn to play Smash Bros".

I don't want to be "competitive". I just want to not kill myself and look like an idiot when playing with friends. Even when I'm winning, I find it fairly easy to get bored *shrug*. I want Mario Kart Wii... that'll be my game of choice.

I wouldn't say that the removal of the old advanced techniques have made the game suck. I understand that there will be some new advanced moves and glitches and some new stuff to find out. What I think makes the game suck is the non-existent learning curve.

And I understand that the developer's aimed to make the game easier and more balanced, especially when considering online play and hoping that it won't take years to master the game, so when someone picks it up 4 years down the road, they can actually have a chance and have fun with the game.

But that's not why I loved Melee. I loved Melee because of it's steep learning curve, the rewards earned for mastering the game seem to give you such an advantage over someone who's just picked up the controller. And maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see much room for advanced stuff with the new engine. In fact, I think it's built mostly on an attempt to take away advantages gained by people who will take the game to levels it wasn't intended for.

And by all means, don't take my opinion like it's something to go by. I'm such an incredible critic of everything under the sun. It's just, for so long now I've really enjoyed most every first-party Nintendo title due to the way they can make a game so ultimately perfect and satisfying putting heart and detail into every aspect of their games, and now it seems like they're losing a grip on that appeal. Especially with the Wii. And their online service can blow me.

Thank you! I was worried they were clones when Brawl just released in Japan, but I'm glad they're different. Good to see some people who think the same way.

I agree with you 100% here. I felt like I earn the right to be good at Melee after practicing the advane techniques. But you gotta give Brawl a bit more time.

More people will be getting their hands on Brawl. It'll eventually be better.

For example.. I have a feeling not everyone can do a Short hop Double Laser in Melee. Guess what? DeDeDe has a Short hop Double B-Air which I doubt everyone can do in Brawl.. so yeah just give it some time.
