Emulation SNES9x GameCube controller help

I have every other controller working for SNES9x gx even the gamepad but for the life of me can’t get the GameCube controller to work. I downloaded the .dol but I don’t even exactly know where to put it or what to do from there. I haven’t been able to find an answer so if anyone could help me I’d really appreciate it, thanks!
