i've read somewhere that no version of SNEmulDS will work on an SDHC card. I have an Acekard 2.1 with a 8GB SDHC card and I can't get snemulds to work at all. Is there a fix for this that anyone knows of?

I have a DSLite w/ EDGE - 4Gb SDHC... SNEmulDS seems to work fine....

Have you tried using other FWs for AK?

Id love to know how I could play SNES Roms on my DS. There is 1 specific game that I would love to play, called "Secret Of Mana", and is the best RPG of mine of all time.

Id be spending 10's of hours on this 1 game alone if I knew how to do it if possible.

I have a brand new M3i Zero with a DS Lite & 16gb Micro SDHC.

Could someone please post an idiots guide, so I know what I must do from start to finish.

I already have the ROM in question on my computer, and plays perfect with a PC Emulator.

I already replied to your topic, but whatever.

Go to DOWNLOADS -> HOMEBREW -> EMULATORS -> SELECT YOUR EMULATOR

EDIT TIP: All these are located on the top of the page when entered (ie, 'downloads' is located on the top of this page).

The best emulators are starred and pinned on top of all the other ones.

I did try what you said last night (so simple when you know how!) had to ask as there was no clear cut example anywhere on how its best done.

I put on my Secret Of Mana game, and there is good and bad news to this.

The good news is that the game actually does run.

The bad knows is that there was quite a few issues with it going. First off, the sound can be a bit crackily to the point where it is muffled, and would love a way to correct this if there is a patch somewhere for this to happen?
Also on the video side of things, When you first start the game to type in your name, the A-Z letters do not show up, they are just blank. Also, when you go to view your stats etc, nothing shows up, it is just blank.

Id be willing to actually pay if someone managed to find a way to make it run as perfect as the PC version of the emulator where it runs flawlessly.
Can someone please get this rom and manage to get it running perfect with there DS lite? If someone said that it runs flawlessly on a DSi it would be worth upgrading, as this is my most favourite game of all time.

Someone, please help me out!!!

Secret of Mana used SNES hi-res video mode (512x224) for text. A mode that SNES emulators on DS can't emulate due to lack of screen size (256x192). No text will appear in any hi-res SNES game without some sort of graphics hack to make text fit. Seiken Densetsu 3 (sometimes known as Secret of Mana 2) will have the same issue as will a small handful of other SNES games (Treasure of Rudra off the top of my head).

As much as I tried to enjoy playing it on the DS, its very hard as the screen does not give you much space to see ahead, and so get hit quite a bit by the swifter monsters.

As much as I would love to enjoy playing this on the DS, I might have to make do with playing it on the PC so I can enjoy top quality sounds and the full visual effect the way its meant to be played.

Not even sure if the DSi would be any better.

Maybe this is why Nintendo have never done a "to DS" conversion like they have with all the Final Fantasy games they had on the SNES.

Where exactly do you put the roms? I've downloaded the recommened one (emulator), loads it up just fine, but despite where I put the roms, and how i name the folder, it won't pop up on the list, help? Thanks in advance.

Edit: useing an R4i card if that helps any. Latest firmware and all

Bump?

I've done all I could think to do

I've downloaded the file, put CFG in the root of SD card, put the snemulds in folder called SNES, where I put my roms, also made a folder called SNES and one called ROMS with the roms in them. Emu runs fine, where you select roms but no roms pop up. Useing R4i with latest firmware.

@DaggerV

Hi,
SnemulDS requires roms to be put in a SNES directory (no ROM subfolder). The SNES directory must be at the memory card root.

Root/
......./SNES

I think i might of figured out my problem, i was putting things in the right place, it's just some of my rom files are just files, while some of my roms are SMC, it'll read the SMC but not my roms who file type is listed as file

I just copied my rom folder over to card and only the SMC files popped up, ahwell, thanks.

DaggerV, to make the roms listed as files work properly, just add .smc at the end of the file names.
This should solve your problems.

Would it really make a difference though? It's a SNES rom all the same.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure SNEmulDS just looks for the extension so that it knows which files are roms..

just out of curiosity, would it be possible to run star ocean on snemulds? i've tried a lot of different things to get this game to work, and nothing seems to be working. i know that the compatibility list says not happening but is there any way for me to run this game?

thanks in advance

I'm asking this since there's a certain game that I'd like to play (Tales of Phantasia), which doesn't work on SNEmulDS. However, the topics stickied in this section are both rather old, and I was wondering if there were any new SNES emulators for the DS that would play this game. Or is the DS just not powerful enough to get any better compatibility?

Thanks in advance.

Tales of phantasia won't work because it's 6MB.The ds only have 4MB of ram.

It should work as SNEmulDS uses a streaming system for games larger than 4mb or utilises slot 2 RAM. If the game uses any chips in the cartridge such as SUperFX or Mode7 then the game will not run though.
