Gaming SMG2 Side Flip

This might sound a bit noob-like, but I'm 180 stars in, and I'm still not exactly sure how to do a side flip. What are the controls?

Just curious if you've played other 3D Marios, starting from Nintendo 64, as this move has not changed since day 1.

the easiest way is to run than hold z for a second and push in the opposite direction.
