Homebrew smb via mplayer-ce

how do i connect my nas (1tb WD mybook world) into the mplayer-ce smb share
i setup the smb config with the ip of the nas but its not working
do i need samba installed on my nas ??
my nas is running off a switch which is running off the router that the wii is connected 2 via wifi (homebrew can connect to router so not a connection issue)
doesnt need a password to connect do i need to add 1?
my media station for the tv connects to my nas fine

i ran this command "net view \\192.168.70.44"
and it showed

i have also just setup the NAS to accept ftp but unsure how to configure that on the hdd and mplayer
i have the Nas mapped as a drive can i set it up that way?
