I'm following this tutorial, where do I get the mbn files and stuff? Do I have to extract the game to get them? And once I'm done how do I put it in the game

There's a guide on GBATemp on extracting Smash 3DS data(it's the same as Texture Hack dump). Follow these and then you'll get all the data.

.max files are project folders. In Ohana 3DS ReBirth, open a specific normal.mbn.

Just simply drag the normal.mbn on Ohana 3DS Rebirth and you'll see the model. After that, export it as .dae. Go to Noesis and drag your .dae there and 3xport it as .fbx and check Flip UV. After that, drag the .fbx on to 3DSMax and done. Now there's no texture in 3DSMax so you can do the textures on your own.
