I'm just starting out with PSP and want to play SNES Roms.

A lot of them work fine but some of the bigger ones like Donkey Kong Country 3 play in slow motion.

Can this be changed by adjusting the settings or do some of the bigger SNES roms not work properly on PSP?

I have a PSP Slim with 5.50 GEN-D (Full)

Also, is Snes9xTYL 0.4.2 (3.xx) the best emulator to be using?

Thanks

Check your renderer options. The best (and slowest) is PSP Accel+Accu Soft, if this is too slow turn it down to PSP Accel+Approx Soft and if its still too slow just down to PSP Accel

Turning off vSync (if its on) may help too.

Definitely utilize frame-skip, but you really shouldn't be having any problems since you do have the extra RAM. If I recall correctly though, and Donkey Kong 3 sounds familiar as one of the titles that came out towards the end of the SNES's lifetime which *might* make it harder to emulate because it utilized the SNES's capabilities better because it was created towards the end of its lifetime?

Donkey Kong 3 works fine on Snes9x Euphoria, PSP Accelerated with auto frameskip.

-use euphoria ver
-Turn down sound bitrate.
-Use 333mhz
-adjust frame skipping

It could also be simply your memory card has slow read/write rates.

I was not aware that I could use SNES Roms on my PSP Brite.

Is there a walkthrough guide somewhere of the steps I need to take start to finish, to get the emulator and then the ROMS installed on my Memory Stick so I can then enjoy all the good SNES games at full, proper speed? I did try a DS Lite, but the emulator there does not really work very well (Secret Of Mana)

What firmware are you on?

My experience with Secret of Mana found slowdowns in select areas with fog or other effects. They are few and typically brief enough to run through so you can probably tolerate it (I did play the entire game on PSP) but don't expect it to be perfect.

to get homebrew running on your brite the psp has to be on 5.03 or lower then u use chickhen + 5.03 gen-c

For Donkey Kong games, try going in to hack menu (Misc -> Hack) and turn on Ignore Pallet Writes. I know it works quite well in DKC1, although I can't say I've played much DKC3.

I also have a PSP 2000 that I went around my local town to find, many of them were of the latest firmware that I said no to, but there was 1 pre-owned one I found that had an old-ish firnware version, and by that firmware I knew it was of the hacking variety.

What is the best PSP SNES Emulator at the moment? I want to find one that works best with Secret Of Mana, as thats the main game that I want to play through with this, as I know the PSP version of the SNES Emulator should work better than the NDS variety (he said hopefully)
