Hacking Slot-2 recognition

When I use a GBA booter from my Slot-1 to Boot GBA type things to Slot-2

What files is it looking for or loading?

I have an empty Slot-2 cart, was wondering if i can throw on some software/firmware on this slot-2 device to make it act like a GBA cart loader.

What exactly is the slot-2 device? How can you have an "empty" cart unless it's the DS Lite dust cover or something similar?

it had a built-in 1 gig space on it, it was for a persona-media-player slot-1 cart, that would flash over to the slot-2 to load files and such.

now that i have my dstt i have a slot-2 1igg that i'd like to put to use. hehe

Can you give any specific names? I'm trying to think of any device that works like that but I'm coming up with a blank. The closest I can think of are the slot-1 N-card clones that used a slot-2 cart to connect to the computer via a USB cable. If this is the case, then no you can't do anything with the slot-2 card.
