Bethesda has announced that they will be releasing a free title update for Skyrim later this month that will enable Kinect support for the Xbox 360 version of the game. The game's Kinect support will add in more than 200 different Voice Commands for Kinect owners.

Interesting, I know we saw this on that what I developers did when we gave them a couple of hours to mess around video but did not expect to see it outside DLC/GOTY.

It is not enough for me to consider getting a kinect or fixing the one in a box around here somewhere (it just needed a couple of minutes of soldering) and I have to wonder what MS thought about this (they tend to frown about serious new functionality in title updates) but I guess they had a reason to allow it.

Skyrim sold a heck of a lot and the Kinect doesn't look like a tempting buy to many people so a big game like Skyrim adding some seriously nice options (that sorting thing better be a menu option too) for use only with Kinect might get them a few extra sales.

Yes....YES!!!! I only used my Kinect for netflix until now. This is fucking awesome.

Oh, and for those saying "lol casual" Please. Casual has lost any and all meaning by now.

Ok, I think this is one of the few things I would actually use a Kinect for, seems pretty useful, Lets you skip some pointless dialog.
Wouldn't tempt me to buy one though, Spent too much time on the PC version to start again on Xbox.

I wouldn't mind having them on my PC, some are kinda useful (like the SORT ones and ASSIGN weapon).
A few weeks after the Skyrim release I think there was already some kind of mod that did this, you could play Skyrim with voice commands that way. Google it if you're interested, I think it was especially for Shouts.

It's interesting, but I don't know why this feature can only be used by Kinect. It's just voice commands so using a Microphone on PC or PS3 should give you the exact same possibilities. They did the same thing with Mass Effect 3 but kept the voice commands to Kinect only when they could have been use on the other systems with just a microphone.

Sounds to me like Microsoft is desperate to legitimise Kinect support beyond looking like an idiot in front of your TV.

I am guessing the Kinect voice recognition is done by the hardware making it light and very easy to implement.

I'd say that Skyrim is about to become "Better for Kinect."

I guess a more appropriate title would be "Now Technically Functional with the Kinect."

so can i use my own voice to summon Fos Ru DAH!!!!

my body is the sword might be interesting also TM
You can dual wield in Skyrim
Unless you got two bodies, I don't see how your idea would work

It's going to be clunky. There's no way you'll be able to sort out your inventory effectively with hand gestures alone. I bet numerous people will throw their arms up with a big "fuck you" and pick up the controller

I'm not very optimistic about this idea
