Hey community, a discussion about the Sky3DS+ cartridge and his unability to boot dev cartridges.
Since I've not seen anyone talking about this on the web, I'm starting this thread hopping this could give some informations to online people, and also it could lead to some advancements on this closed cartridge (I've not seen any source code online)... including making it read dev stuff.

Recently I've managed to get one of these 3DS flashcards and decided to try some experiments with retail and dev encrypted ROMs, here are the results:

[Retail ROMs]
Sky3DS+ is obviously able to boot copies of untouched retail 3DS ROMs.
What surprised me is it's ability to boot a debug build but retail encrypted (thanks GFO) with a CFW retail 3DS. That build is seemingly not signed, but if the console bypass signature checks the flashcard does the job.

[Dev ROMs]
Sky3DS+ is deceptive on this side, it doesn't seems to manage dev encrypted ROMs.
After alot of testing, using alot of different dev encrypted game builds (thanks GFO), and even a real dev cartridge dumped especially for it, Sky3DS+ have always the same reaction:
once inserted in the Panda (dev) 3DS console, it does rename the rom.3ds to rom.3ds.bad

I'm not exactly sure what is the reason of this bad management of dev games, thinking that's probably due to the encryption keys being different.
Also after some tests using a SkyDock, the Sky3DS+ is able to dump retail cartridges, but not dev cartridges (it doesn't even react the the fact it's inserted).

Here are the Sky3DS+ and SkyDock used (pictures taken from my 3DS :yay3ds:)

For now zero technical documentation have been done from my side, only the functional informations you've read above.

Actually placing hopes in this downloadable firmware, maybe we could understand it, then modify it:

One last thing, actually owning two of these cartridges, if needed I could disassemble one to dump stuff, even if that would need your help on how to setup solder points etc...

Thanks in advance everyone who would contribute !

I also have the very same flashcart, do you know where can I get decrypted 3ds roms that works with it?

how are you account level 7 and still lacking the common sense to 1. post in the right thread, 2. not necro threads, 3. ask the search engine that got you here first, and 4. not ask us to help you pirate things

I did that obviously, no luck. So I tried searching here and found this thread.
