I have a mirror, but I'm not posting it because of an agreement I had with SKJmin. We thought it was fair, but I dunno why he took all versions down.

Then why even mention it? It seems you're only posting to brag.

Probably because he wasn't making money off of it anymore.
Will you ever get over it?
He put time and effort into that thing. I'd say he deserved to make a few bob.

Why should someone make money out of a rom hack?

Can you guys stop beating this dead horse already? I would think you all pissed him off enough by now.

So there's a 1 in 134,618 chance he's not calling you a dick.

If he took it down, it would be because no end of ppl gave him endless crap instead of just enjoying the game.

Is it weird that I had respect for him?

I liked his hack, I thought it was good and possibly one of the best.
Then he started lying about things, and taking money for a piece of software that wasn't his to profit from.
It's alright to take donations for this kind of thing, but throwing a pussy-fit when it's not enough is another thing entirely.

Respect > 0

I'm fairly certain that if he had thrown a few pics into the archive, maybe made a 'visual guide' and a few No$GBA caps of his game, included instructions, blah blah blah, used zero compression (i.e. store not compress) for the archive, he could have probably ended up with a 15MB+ archive and then told the truth that he was padding the file to try to make a little money off the downloads, people would have been fine with it and he would have most likely ended up with more money off of it.
But people don't like being lied to.
In addition to that, there's a lot of people on metered bandwidth, and that 100MB is an absolute killer for a patch to a game. 15MB is much more manageable.

He could've just added a dummy file to the ROM that's all pointless HEX, never make a pointer to it, have it bigger than the rest of the game, and used store instead of compress. That's get him over the 100MB limit to make some cash.

And he still would have lied...
And it would still be 100MB...

Yes, but it needs to be over 100MB to make money off it.
No more pictures, and no reason to lie about the picture protection.
